Fun story! George is in Denver for a ski trip. Despite the 11 hour drive, he drove so he could meet up with a friend and do some overlanding outside of Denver. It did not go well.

About 50 feet onto the trail both of the rear shocks on the friend’s Wrangler fell off.

No I’m not making that up.

No, I don’t have more pictures.

I have no idea how that happens, especially simultaneously!? I guess it is a Jeep thing and I wouldn’t understand.

According to George the bushings were shot and probably had been for a long time. Also looking at the picture there is a pretty sizable hole in the rear right.

They did not get to finish the trail.

Is it possible the Joop was lifted and the proper length shocks were not used, leading to the shocks acting like suspension travel limiters?

My guess is someone forgot to tighten the bolts. Hence both of them coming loose at the same time.

This is very common. Especially when folks throw on like a 2" budget boost. Everything is fine and dandy until the suspension unloads.

Mama always said to take off my socks or put on some shoes before going outside. I guess this is why.
